Purna Chetana Public School

Keeping in view the essence of the National Curriculum Framework of 2005, our school shall adopt an activity-based, child-centered and joyful teaching-learning program. Every teacher in the school will prepare a well-thought-out action plan in the Teacher’s Diary, before taking up the teaching-learning program in the class. To assist the teacher in preparing the action plan, a Teacher’s Manual containing unit plans and worksheets has been developed by our team, which contains guidelines for teaching lessons in all subjects from class I to 10, based on the new NCERT curriculum and the National Curriculum Framework for schools (NCFS – 2005). The worksheets developed for each unit/lesson will evaluate students’ comprehension of the subject matter. Over-emphasis on rote learning, cramming and textbook centered teaching, followed by pen and paper sit-down tests will be avoided.

Textbooks and workbooks prescribed by the NCERT in the subjects of Hindi, English, Mathematics, Environmental Studies/Science and Social Science will be followed in our school in all the classes.

To make learning more joyful and long-lasting, we believe a child should be taught using activities and arts. The core premise includes the requirement that learning should be based on doing some hands-on experiments and activities. Children are active learners rather than passive recipients of information. We believe if a child is provided the opportunity to explore on their own and provided an optimum learning environment, they do wonders. Keeping this in mind, this year we are planning to bring in the idea of teaching academics through arts, wherein classroom teaching will be complemented by many activities and arts.

For a kid’s holistic development, both scholastic and co-scholastic activities play a vital role. Considering this we have planned this year’s academic calendar, giving equal importance to both these areas.

The transition from preschool to primary school is a crucial time of change for children. Our kindergarten (K.G.) curriculum ensures a smooth transition to formal schooling with meaningful and progressive learning experiences. In addition to age-appropriate activities in kindergarten, which prepare a child for success in formal school, various other activities are conducted in the areas of language, numbers, general knowledge, music and art in a planned manner throughout the program.
